Libraries

Dive into a good book, browse the internet and take advantage of all that Johnson County's libraries have to offer. Between the Johnson County Library and Olathe Library, there are more than a dozen branches open to the public, featuring cafés, computers, books and media, meeting and event space and more.

Here are some things to know about the Johnson County Library:

  • Visitors can sign up for a Johnson County Library card to access physical materials and online resources. Items can be returned at any Johnson County Library branch or Olathe Public Library location.

  • People who don’t live in Johnson County can get a library card. We encourage visitors to sign up for an eCard, which is fast and works for most needs.

  • With an eCard, you can checkout eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming video, eMagazines and eNewspapers.

  • You cannot checkout items from the physical collection with an eCard. You can place two holds, but you won’t be able to check them out until your eCard is upgraded to a physical library card.

  • No library card is needed to attend programs, Storytimes, use Wi‑Fi or access public computers.
